Quiet Luxury: What we are Seeing in Interior Design

As a real estate agent and design enthusiast, I am always excited to see what the design trends will be for the next season. As we approach the fall/winter season, I am excited to say that quiet luxury is on trend. Though, I think we can all agree: It’s not a trend; it’s always in style!

We are seeing this in the interior design and fashion world, which are very much intertwined. When I think of quiet luxury, I think of timeless style, warm hues, sophisticated pieces and high-quality materials. We are living in a time where we crave long-lasting, high-quality pieces. (As opposed to the kind of pieces that won’t survive a weekend with kids.) Quiet luxury can mean more time for ourselves in our homes without all the clutter and away from the hustle and bustle of the world.

How to Incorporate Quiet Luxury Into Your Home

As we think of quiet luxury in the home, there are a few things that come to mind. There is so much beauty in the small and large details of a home. Think of concrete floors, arched hallways, stone countertops, hardware on cabinets, soothing wall colors, warm hues, textures, and beautiful lighting.

An easy way to incorporate quiet luxury elements could be selecting the right accents that harmonize with the seasons. Picture a ceramic vase placed strategically on a side table. Fresh seasonal flowers, add a pop of color and a breath of nature to the room. Or maybe, consider placing carefully chosen potted plants in various corners with their lush greenery bringing life and vibrancy! In autumn, rustic tones of oranges and browns can blend with the changing scenery outside, mirroring the new season in your home while adding depth and character.

It can also be fun to think beyond traditional decor items and focus on even the smallest details. Think about how books artfully arranged on a shelf can add character and sophistication. Experiment with throw pillows in different accent colors, giving your space a sense of effortless yet elegant luxury. These simple pieces, thoughtfully curated, have the power to transform your living environment. Remember, the key is not to overcrowd; carefully select a few pieces that resonate with your style and complement your existing decor.

I truly believe it is important to love every piece you consider buying for your home. If you don’t love it, don’t buy it. My mom was my fashion style icon and my mother-in-law is my interior design icon. I learned from them both to not buy anything unless I love it. I use it in my everyday life and it makes the buying process for me so much easier.

Where to Shop Quiet Luxury

Quiet luxury can be found in all price points. Thrift store shopping is a great way to find unique pieces that can last a lifetime. Mix high and low pieces throughout your home. Remember, less is more. Think of each piece you buy as an investment piece.

Whether assisting in buying or selling a property, it’s always a joy to help our clients find a space they love and watch them infuse their own unique style and personality!
